BPI Express Online - Tulong Sa Pinoy Project (Updated Mar 3 2007)Welcome, kababayan! Malayo ka man ngayon sa Pilipinas, Tulong sa Pinoy is your chance to extend your help to your fellow Pinoys back home while keeping your money safe in a Tulong Sa Pinoy Patron Account. 1. What is Tulong sa Pinoy? Tulong sa Pinoy (Help for the Filipinos) is a joint project of National Federation of American Associations (NaFFAA) and the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), and its internet bank subsidiary, the BPI Direct. It seeks to engage the support of global Filipinos in helping their kababayans back home sustain their source of livelihood or become small entrepreneurs. 2. How can Filipinos based or working abroad help? You can help when you apply for a BPI Tulong sa Pinoy Dollar Account in the Philippines via BPIDirect Savings Bank, BPI's phone and internet bank for overseas Filipinos. Simply log on to www.bpidirect.com. 3. How can my dollars in my BPI Tulong Sa Pinoy account help? For a minimum of $1,000 you save or remit to your Tulong sa Pinoy account, BPI matches that with peso funds for lending to accredited, reputable microfinancing companies in the Philippines. These microfinancing institutions re-lend the money to our enterprising kababayans - market vendors, rice retailers, newspaper peddlers, fishball ambulants, tricycle drivers. Without this facility from microfinancing, our kababayans otherwise become victims of loan sharks or usurers. 4. Is my money safe with BPI? Your money is very safe with BPI and will even earn interest while you help. BPI is the oldest and one of the most stable banks in the Philippines, with over 153 years of banking leadership. It is the bank subsidiary of the Ayala Group of Companies, a very prudent and well-respected business conglomerate in the country. 5. When can I get back or withdraw my money? Tulong sa Pinoy Dollar account is a one-year time deposit account. If you wish to terminate the account immediately at the end of the term, simply send an email to BPIdirect@bpi.com.ph. Otherwise, it is automatically renewable. 6. How else can I connect to the proponents of the Tulong sa Pinoy Project? You can simply log on to www.bpiexpressonline.com or www.bpidirect.com. You can also contact active members of the NaFFAA in your community or also log on to www.naffaa.org. The Bank of the Philippine Islands has Express Remittance Centers (BERCs) in key cities around the world and international toll-free numbers which are posted at www.bpiexpressonline.com. SIGN UP NOW!
