ENTREPRENEUR DEFINED and ENCOURAGED
There are lots of definition for the word
entrepreneur. Some, maka benta lang ng produkto,
entrepreneur na daw… or with others, they just
inherited a business from their folks entrepreneur na
din…kung may negosyo ka ba, automatic that you become
an entrepreneur? ano? Sino ba talaga ang entrepreneur?
This has to be clearly defined, because these are the
people who will lift this dear country of ours from
poverty. From various definitions, the concept of
entrepreneurship is INNOVATION. It is a new or a
different way of doing things. When a person creates a
new way, product, system… that is innovation. Kapag ka
ang dating ng isang bagay ay bago o kaka iba…
innovation din yun.
So, if you have innovated something or have come up
with something new(in the context of business)… you
are an entrepreneur.
It means, if you just copied a business system or
franchised, lets say; a hardware business or a
restaurant. It is not entrepreneurship but just purely
business. But if you thought of sending agents to
offer your hardware goods or started delivering food
instead of just wait for customers, then you are most
likely an entrepreneur. To be part of that something
new also makes you an entrepreneur.
An entrepreneur is a person who innovates. Syempre sa
negosyo pinaguusapan natin. The person is a risk taker
because he is always the bench mark, starter, and the
beginnings of his ideas. He also invests his sources
to the idea he has come up with. Unique ideas, new
ways or he turns bad things to good ones! He either
makes something new from something which already
exists or simply comes up with something from nothing.
Sa bible, the first chapter and first verse says, “in
the beginning”… God created. The word created in
Hebrew is “BARA”, which means to make something out of
nothing. Human beings can only “make” not create…
meaning to make something out of something. Ex. We
make pineapple juice (from pineapple). But God created
the pine apple. So, my context here using the word
“create is make”. Linilinaw lang po…
An entrepreneur has an extra ordinary feature. Meron
syang, kakaibang boses at naninilaw ang mata… o, joke
lang seryoso na kayo eh…
Tuloy natin… these features gives the man an
advantage. He is very creative; he has new ways to
sell things. As I would always joke, kahit yung mga
taga pampangga kaya nya bentahan ng lahar. He will
always show you why you need to buy that product.
Eh sino sya? Example nga?
He is the guy who thought of selling SAGO ! IMAGINE!
We have been drinking gulaman since we were kids at
P1.00 per glass. The entrepreneur repackaged the
drink, added a straw, a fancy glass, added more ice ,
started selling it at P25.00 and called it “SHAGO”.
Have you seen the ice cream that is being cooked? It
ads flavor to the buyer! They do not buy the ice
cream; they buy the entertainment when the ice cream
is being cooked!
It is those who changed the presentation, style of
eating and buying food. It’s the same banana, but
presented in a cup…
Sya yung nag suot ng scrub suit sa masahista nya,
pinag dala ng cd player, scented candle at pinag
servise ng home massage.
He is the guy who brought to you HOME delivery Pizza
and food! Frozen taho, tacos ,burgers etc. he thought
of networking and created the system around it. He
turned basic advertising to revolutionize advertising.
Sya din po naka isip na mag karoon ng event organizing
so that people need not bother themselves with all the
chaos of creating an event which also would save a
company money.
Mommy! 3 times na ko maliligo araw araw! Says a young
kid who loves jollibee. Why? Whats the connection
between a soap and burger? Wala! But the entrepreneur
made a connection.
A concert, a spa treatment and a hair shampoo? Wala
din… but its free if you get a sachet of Palmolive
shampoo…
INNOVATION! Have you come up with something new? Then
you are an entrepreneur.
I remember an old friend trying to sell me a special
car wax. He gave me a demo on a panel and showed me
how the product protects the car. He said that it is
only P800.00 for a bottle. I asked him, how many cars
can it protect? He said, up to 10 cars or 10 uses. I
told him stop selling the wax and start offering the
service. Confused, he asked me why and how? I said,
people buy services now a days, not products. So, I
told him offer people that you will wax their car with
this special product for only P500.00. Did you get it?
Did you see his profit and how he attracted more
people with his service than just offering them to buy
a product? With a bottle he earned P5, 000.00.
Copying a business doesn’t make you an entrepreneur.
It makes you into a selfish business person. Dig
inside of you and you’ll see a million and one ideas
how to innovate things. Besides, if an idea came from
you, you will cherish it and put your whole heart on
it. You will support it all the way. Iba ang galing sa
puso.
We are an entrepreneurial country! The best net
workers in the world! Most of entrepreneurs in the
Philippines belong to the micro or small business
categories. Sila yung mga vendors, retail store
owners, service business… hanggat may innovation,
creativity, risk taking may entrepreneurs.
An entrepreneur also has a heart to produce jobs and
employment. We have to admit, our goal is profit…
(kaya nga nag hahanap buhay eh). But aside from profit
being a goal an entrepreneur desires to see his fellow
men have a source of income. He produces jobs for
people.
We have economic problems today because the country
lacks money. People have needs and our supply is not
enough and very much limited. People are poor because
they rely on jobs for their needs and income.
Unemployment is the biggest problem of our country
today. Ito ang pinaka malaking problema ng Pilipino
ngayon. Marami ang gusto mag trabaho pero walang
available na trabaho. Sa ibang bansa , sila pa
nangunguha ng dayuhan para maka puno sa kanilang man
power needs.
Pag wala kang trabaho, problema yan! Sa bahay, pagkain
atbp… ang nangyayari tuloy… crimen, prostitusyon at
karumihan sa ating paligid. Ganun lang ka simple yun.
The reason why im saying this is because I wanted
everybody that reaches this message to think and think
hard. If we will depend on our government to help our
kababayans baka year 2050 na wala pang mangyari. With
the worst politics and pamumulitika sa bayan natin…
asa ka pa.
As you read this, dream. Dream of yourself as an
entrepreneur, owning an enterprise hiring people.
Providing jobs for people who are in need. Be an
entrepreneur, dig inside of your creative mind. If you
can’t, then be part of an existing entrepreneurship.
There is an idea in you… take the risk, innovate.
To be continued…
