Globalpinoy Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises. Inc. believes that a principal reason why the Philippines continues to lag behind its Asian neighbors in economic development is because of the lamentable absence of a wide-spread entrepreneurial orientation and a woeful lack of entrepreneurial skills among Filipinos. Even today, our youth are still brought up on the principle that the key to success is to get a good education preferably with impressive grades to be able to find good employment in big multinational companies. One look at our more successful Asian brothers will easily reveal that their economies were founded on local entrepreneurships, not employment.

There is therefore an urgent need to correct this anomaly that has left our country behind in economic development. This is most crucial as the whole world economy now faces the onslaught of globalization, a trend which cannot be stopped and will not be stopped. Our country drastically requires the development of a mass-based entrepreneurial class if we are to survive globalization. A country of employees such as ours will always have a government that is beholden to multinational companies. On the other hand, a Philippines with a wide-based entrepreneurial class can exist on its own and could even wield companies hostage in this country.

The Philippines economy must be controlled by Filipinos. Para umunlad an gating bayan, kailangan umunlad ang negosyanteng pinoy. This is the battlecry of the Globalpinoy Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises. With every discussion in this forum, we hope to spead the seeds of Filipino entrepreneurship to the four corners of the archipelago or wherever the Filipinos maybe.

But for the entrepreneurial class to flourish and succeed, we critically also need the cooperation and support of the government. Globalpinoy Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises likewise commits itself to attempt to persuade government to implement laws and incentives conducive to the development and success of home-grown entrepreneurs. The 'Iskolar Ko Sa Negosyo' program of Globalpinoy Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises, Inc. was launched in order to generate entrepreneurs in the barangay level through the Filipinos Overseas who want to help their families in the Philippines. This program will be done in cooperation with the local government units. The program will generate awareness in the barangays through a series of Kaya Ng Pinoy Expo that will encourage barangay based micro-business and through sponsorship of livelihood training/seminar for selected constituents in the barangay.

With you, the local entrepreneurs, behind us, we will succeed finally in creating a powerful entrepreneurial class. After the OFWs, the local entrepreneurs of this country will be the next heroes of the Philippines!

MORE ABOUT STYRO CRAFT ART BUSINESS

Pagtatanghal Ng Natatanging Kakayahan Ng Pinoy
A Salute To Filipino Talents

StyroArt Craft® is a new form of art from recycled styrofoam materials as the medium to create artistic projects which can generate income.

What we commonly call styrofoam, is actually the most recognizable form of foam polystyrenepackaging. Styrofoam® is a Dow Chemical Co. trademarked form of polystyrene
foam insulation introduced in the U.S. in 1954. Styrofoam® is a trademarked name, the real
name of the product is foamed polystyrene.

Ray McIntire invented Styrofoam for the Dow Chemical Co.. McIntire said his invention of foamed polystyrene was accidental. His invention came as he was trying to find a flexible electrical insulator around the time of World War II. Polystyrene, which already had been invented, was a good insulator but too brittle. McIntire tried to make a new rubber-likepolymer by combining styrene with isobutylene, a volatile liquid, under pressure. The result was a foam polystyrene with bubble, 30 times lighter than regular polystyrene (source The Detroit News - Polystyrene.org )

StyroArt® was developed by Filipino inventor, Antonio Agtoto using his invention called the Styro Electro Cutter which was given the Outstanding Utility Model Award in the 2001National Inventors Week held on November 16-21, 2001 at the SM City Cebu, Cebu City.
In a series of KAYA NG PINOY Expo events organized by the Globalpinoy Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises at the San Isidro Mini-Forest Park (Taytay, Rizal) in December and in Adamsom University (San Marcelino Street, Manila) and Arellano University (Legarda. Manila) in February, it was observed that among the exhibitors in the event, the booth of Filipino Inventor Antonio Agtoto always has the most number of visitors because of the product from his invention called 'StyroArt'.

With this observation, Globalpinoy President Arturo Esguerra, Jr. hatched the idea of developing StyroArt Craft® into a livelihood activity that can generate income opportunities for the Filipinos.

The Globalpinoy started the FREE Livelihood Training to teach the Filipinos the craft. The first Training was conducted for a group of Senior Citizens of Sitio Maligaya, Bahay Toro,Project 8, Quezon City and surprisingly the craft was very much appreciated by the participants.
