Who Are Our Today’s Heroes?Editor's Note: SME.com.ph Who Are Our Today’s Heroes? Araw ng Kagitingan is celebrated on April 9. There were numerous accounts that have been written about our past heroes, who fought and died for our motherland. The last stanza of Julian Felipe’s Philippine National Anthem that goes, “…aming ligaya na pag may nang-aapi ang mamatay nang dahil sa iyo” is so ideal, so novel, isn’t it? In English it’s translated as: “… but it is glory ever, when thou art wronged, for us, thy sons, to suffer and die.” My question now is, do we really need to die? Is dying really the answer to express one’s love for our country? Or is it surviving and contributing for our country to rise from its debts and be freed from all its violence, injustices, and from poverty? In our previous issue, we shared that 67% is employed by SMEs in the country. It is something to really thank - for SMEs create and provide jobs for the jobless Filipinos. It is but proper that our government recognizes the role of SMEs in upliftment of our country’s economy. Somehow, we know that we are all in the right track because we do not just celebrate the heroic death of our brethren who fought and died for our beloved Philippines. But also marvel at the struggles and triumphs of every SME in the country. In SME.com.ph, it is our goal to showcase SMEs’ stories. Also with the aim of inspiring and teaching Filipinos to be enterprising in order to make a difference and have a part in shaping our economy, it is enough for us to go on. I may well consider that our today’s heroes aside from the Filipino Overseas Workers, are our SMEs. The heroic acts of the Filipinos who valiantly shared their part of our nation’s history is not something that we should take for granted, but is something we should learn from, too. SMEs is a product of this. Together, we salute SMEs as movers and shakers of our Philippine economy. * this was initially received via email from OFW Sa Riyahd Group login to post comments | 467 reads
